Frequently asked questions
What this platform is, how the number is calculated, what a check actually involves, and the things it deliberately will not do.
The basics
- What is GTM?
- A platform that turns what a founder knows about their business into a structured, comparable record, scores it against a published rubric, verifies specific claims, and matches companies to investors against the thesis those investors state. It is operated by Ranked Technologies Ltd, a Nigerian company.
- Who is it for?
- Founders in Africa preparing to raise, starting with Nigeria, and early-stage investors who want comparable records instead of a folder of differently formatted pitch decks.
- What does it cost?
- Founders build a profile, see their score and read the full derivation for free. Investor accounts and browsing are free. Verification is paid, because it involves a person doing work.
- Do I need a pitch deck to start?
- No. The profile is built from structured questions. A deck is one of the checks inside fundraising readiness, not a prerequisite.
The score
- Is the GTM Score calculated by AI?
- No. It is arithmetic over fields a founder supplied and checks we performed. There is no language model anywhere in the calculation. The complete rubric is published, and the published version is generated from the scoring code itself so the two cannot drift apart.
- Why does a blank field score zero instead of an average?
- Because filling in a middle value for a question nobody answered would invent information and then score the company on it. An incomplete profile genuinely is harder to assess. The profile shows which blank field costs the most points, ordered by how much each one is worth.
- Are the seven dimensions weighted?
- No. The total is the plain average of the seven. Any weighting would be an opinion about what matters most, and the score does not hold opinions. Weighting happens on the investor side, where each investor's own stated thesis decides what they filter on.
- Can two people score the same company differently?
- No. The same profile always produces the same number, because the calculation is deterministic. That is the practical benefit of having no AI in it.
Verification
- What does verified actually mean here?
- That a named check was performed on a stated date by a stated method, and the method is shown next to the result. Six checks exist: company registration, domain ownership, founder identity, revenue evidence, customer evidence, and the product itself.
- Does unverified mean the claim was rejected?
- No. Unverified means nobody has looked yet, which is the state most claims sit in. Failed is a separate state, used only when a check was performed and the claim did not hold. The interface never merges the two.
- Can a founder pay for a good result?
- A founder can pay for a check to be performed. They cannot pay for its outcome. A check that comes back negative is recorded and displayed as failed.
- How do you verify something that needs a person on the ground?
- Ranked Technologies operates a panel of identity-verified and bank-verified people across Nigeria who complete paid tasks and report first-hand. Where a check needs somebody to visit an address or use a product, a real verified person does it.
Privacy and control
- Is my company visible as soon as I sign up?
- No. Every profile is private by default. Listing to investors is an explicit choice, and it can be reversed.
- Can I see which investors viewed my company?
- You see interest as counts, not identities. An investor is named to you only if they choose to reveal themselves by requesting an introduction. Who an investor is researching is personal data about that investor.
- Where is the data held?
- On infrastructure operated by Ranked Technologies. For questions about data handling, retention or deletion, write to [email protected].
What this is not
- Does GTM give investment advice?
- No. The GTM Score describes how completely and how strongly a company has evidenced itself against a fixed rubric. The match percentage describes agreement with criteria an investor supplied themselves. Neither is investment advice, a recommendation, or an offer or solicitation of securities.
- Does a verified badge mean a company is a safe investment?
- No. Verification confirms specific facts on specific dates. It is not an endorsement and it is not a substitute for an investor's own diligence.
- Will GTM raise money for me?
- No. It does not broker capital, does not introduce founders to investors who have not stated they are looking for what that founder has, and takes no position in any round.
Nothing on this platform is investment advice. Scores and matches are analytical tools computed from information founders supply and checks we perform. They are not recommendations and not an offer or solicitation of securities.
